Stream Energy sells their electricity service strictly through traditional methods and not from a work from home sales force as can be seen when viewing their brand on state powered comparison sites. The Ignite Energy brand of their business is the part of their company that offers a work from home opportunity.
To further explain the differences, if you get on a state sponsored website and see the Stream Energy brand and corresponding rate this is likely the corporate side of the marketing. Ignite Energy on the other hand is advertised through independent work from home representatives.
If you are a Pennsylvania electricity consumer you may be asked to join the Ignite Energy opportunity and or sign up as an Ignite electricity customer by a family or friend. The family or friend is simply trying to build their MLM business and become successful. In order for an Ignite Energy PA rep to be successful they rely on a few family and friends to help them out by being their customer.

What Stream Energy will do is promote their electric service through paid advertising like, radio, TV, billboards and the like. Stream has a competitor by the name of Ambit Energy that does the same type of advertising and direct sales force advertising. The difference between the two is that Ambit Energy uses both sales methods under one brand name while Stream Energy has Stream and Ignite Energy brands to separate the two methods of advertising.
